What to look for this year:

The Lions enter this season with a strong taste this year. Biggersville had the near impossible task of going on the road last season and knocking off one of the contenders in the playoffs and were successful. After making the trip to Jackson, the Lions fell 2 points short to the state runner up to end the season. Biggersville was also the only 1A team to beat the state champs last season as well. That taste to not just get back to Jackson but to make multiple trips has shown during the off season. 5-11 2017 PG Jordan Strickland has spent plenty of hours in the gym and is looking to make the best of his senior season. Strickland will be looking to ramp his recruiting up and will be a solid force to go along with 6-2 2018 SG Devonte Spears. Spears should also see a spike in his recruiting this season also. He can score on all different levels. 6-7 2017 F Greg Robinson will hold down the post with his 6-10 wingspan. Coach Little has a really good chance to make the multiple trips with this team.

What to look for this year:

The Rebels will be lead by returning big man 6-3 2019 F/C Jaymen Allen. Allen has a strong and powerful inside game with ability to step out and knock some 3’s down. He will be helped out down low by 6-3 2018 F/C Cody Allred. Allred uses his speed to get to the basket down low and also has the ability to stretch the court. Running the show will be 5-10 2017 G Jalen Warren. The smart guard has the strength to finish strong in the paint or shoot from long 3-point range. Coach Allen thinks with his core 3 guys and the young, but talented, role players that his guys could be very competitive night in and night out.

The Eagles will be one more year experienced this season with the leaders of the team. It all starts with 5-10 2018 PG Cole Swinney. The floor general for this team just happens to be one of the best passing guards in the state. He has the ability to find the open man and magically get the ball to him almost every time. Most great teams start with two big time guys, a guard and a big man. 6-5 2018 F/C Luke McBrayer fills the big guy role. He can stretch the court and play in the paint both. 5-10 2019 Jalon Beene will also contribute this season for Wheeler. Watch for Coach Howell to have these guys ready to sneak up on some teams this year.

West Union will be a little bigger this year than in years past. This will contribute on the boards and give them a piece they did’t have in recent years. Coach Henderson will have five seniors that will provide solid leadership and six juniors that will get major minutes. Coach Henderson described his team. “I don’t think we will have one stud every night in and night out and I really look for us to have several in double figures each night…….with a different leading scorer every night.” Coach Henderson is one of the better motivational Coaches around and he always seems to get more out of his players. Smith is a perfect example of what I like to call a mighty mouse guard. He is very physical and play through tough contact. He is one of the more underrated guards in the state and should see an increase in recruiting this season. 6-0 2017 G Devonte Chandler will give West Lowndes an outside shooting threat. 6-6 2017 F/C Courtney Stovall will protect the rim on the defensive end. Look for 6-4 2017 G/F Darius Harkins to contribute on both ends of the court. Coach Dale will bring a new system to West Lowndes this season. He will have his guys playing a high level of energy on defense and scoring quickly in transition on offense. His uptempo style should be exciting and should produce a lot of points.
