Notes: Hickory Flat jumped out to a comfortable halftime lead. Mantachie quickly got back in the game with a 22-10 third quarter. The Lady Rebels were able to gain control again and pull away in the fourth quarter for the win. As for Player of the Game and Senior Spotlight players this was as close as you can get. When I say close it was only one point apiece in my scoring system. The Senior Spotlight player had 34, Player of the Game had 33 and the other two seniors in the running had 32 and 30 in my system.

Camri Westmoreland (6-2 ’24 F/C Hickory Flat 22 pts 2-2 ft 8 reb 2 blk 1 st) had her normal solid game to edge out Player of the Game honors. Anna Rose Work (5-6 ’24 G/F Hickory Flat 21 pts 5 3’s 3 reb 3 ast 5 st) is going to wake up sore after this game. The senior had multiple bumps that I was thinking would’ve knocked her out of the game. She nailed two key 3’s in the fourth quarter to help the Lady Rebels in the win. Morgan Green (5-5 ’24 G Hickory Flat 14 pts (12 in 1st qtr) 6-6 ft 1 reb 2 ast 3 st) was well on her way to winning Player of the Game honors with her huge first quarter. She had 12 points with 6-6 from the free throw line, while being face guarded, before getting into foul trouble and fouling out early. Freshman Ladextini Tipler (5-10 ’27 G Hickory Flat 6 pts 6-8 ft 11 reb 1 ast 4 st) helped Westmoreland down low with her 11 boards.

Cayley Miller (5-11 ’24 F/C Mantachie 18 pts (10 in 3rd qtr) 12 reb 1 ast 1 blk 2 st) came off the bench to score a team high 18 points with 10 of them coming in the third quarter comeback attempt. Her double-double was big for the Lady Mustangs. Aubrey Shell (5-5 ’24 G Mantachie 15 pts 2 3’s 1-1 ft 2 reb 5 ast 5 st 3 charges taken) had a big third quarter too with 6 points, 3 assists and 3 charges taken including the charge that sent Green to the bench with her fifth foul.

Notes: Hickory Flat used a tough defense to get the win. Ty Webb (6-3 ’24 F/C Hickory Flat 11 pts 3-4 ft 9 reb 3 blk 4 st) was the leader of the defense to earn Player of the Game honors. Drayko Walker (6-1 ’24 G/F Hickory flat 14 pts 2 3’s 6-6 ft 3 reb 3 ast 2 st), J.J. Hall (6-1 ’26 PG Hickory Flat 13 pts 4-4 ft 1 3’s 1 reb 1 ast 4 st) and Bradford Hopper (5-9 ’24 G Hickory Flat 10 pts 3-4 ft 1 3’s 4 reb 2 ast 3 st) were also big keys to the victory defensively. Kesean Walker (5-6 ’26 G Hickory Flat 13 pts 1 3’s 1 ast 1 st) provided a scoring spark off the bench.

Ben Mitchell (6-6 ’24 F/C Mantachie 14 pts (all in 2nd half) 2-2 ft 16 reb (13 in 2nd half) 1 ast) showed up in the second half as Mr. R2. R2 in my stat sheet is R for offensive rebound and 2 is the put back. He connected on 6 R2’s in the second half to provide a big double-double. Ashton Shelton (5-8 ’25 G Mantachie 19 pts 3 3’s 2 reb 2 ast 2 st 2 charges taken) was provided a game high 19 points in the loss. Chandler Johnson (6-6 ’24 F/C Mantachie 13 pts 4 reb 3 ast 3 blk 1 st) is a solid passer from the low and high post.
