Barnes Crossing Kia Game of the Night

Tuesday December 12, 2023
From Tishomingo County High School
Iuka, MS
(G) Tishomingo County Lady Braves 11-2 (#2 4A Iuka, MS) 72
Ripley Lady Tigers 4-5 (#16 4A Ripley, MS) 33
Notes: Tishomingo County slowly pulled away for the win over Ripley. The Lady Braves connected on 15-20 free throws to help get the victory. They were also missing senior Reese Moore (5-10 ’24 G Tishomingo County) with an injury. As for Player of the Game honors, that was another close call. Claire Ray (5-4 ’27 G Tishomingo County 18 pts 2 3’s 5 reb 1 ast 3 st) edged out Zareli Ozuna (5-4 ’24 G Tishomingo County 20 pts (in only 3 quarters of play) 10-12 ft 2 reb 1 ast 4 st) for the honors. Meg Moore (5-9 ’28 G Tishomingo County 15 pts 1 3’s 4-4 ft 8 reb 2 ast 1 st) was barely behind them in the mix.
Alorian Story (6-0 ’24 F/C Ripley 12 pts 6-8 ft 14 reb 2 blk 2 st) was a treat to watch. She has a knack for finding the ball off the boards or it has a knack for tracking her down and coming to her.

Notes: The boys game was a duplicate of the girls when picking Player of the Game. Kayson McNutt (5-11 ’26 G Tishomingo County 13 pts 5-6 ft 8 reb 2 ast 1 blk 1 st) edged out Ayden McDeavitt (6-3 ’24 G Tishomingo County 13 pts 7-9 ft 5 reb 4 ast 1 st) with his clutch free throws to lock the game down. Every time you thought Tish was about to put the game away Ripley would get right back in it. Ripley played hard and got good hustle plays from Quintarius Irving (5-10 ’24 G Ripley 11 pts 1 3’s 5 reb 3 ast 1 st), Keegan Strong (5-10 ’24 G Ripley 17 pts 4 3’s 3 reb 1 ast 3 st) and Chad Martin (5-11 ’24 G Ripley 11 pts (8 in 4th qtr) 8 reb 3 ast 6 st 1 charge taken).
