West Union at Ingomar Recap 11-8-24

Magnolia Hoops Game of the Night

Friday November 8, 2024

From Ingomar High School

New Albany, MS

Stats are taken by me and they are unofficial.

(G) Ingomar Lady Falcons  2-0 (1A New Albany, MS) 73

West Union Lady Eagles 0-1 (1A Myrtle, MS) 18

Notes: First off, I had to park miles away and walk to this game. The line to get in was about 30 deep when I got to the door. I was barely able to find a spot to put a chair but the Ingomar Coaching staff took great care of me. The gym was packed and was standing room only. AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT! Do not let this game fool you with the score. West Union has a really solid team but Ingomar……… Whew they are tough, and deep, and good. Macie Phifer (5-11 ’25 G Ingomar) won Player of the Game honors in very limited minutes barely edging out eight grader Peyton Wray (’29 C Ingomar). Ingomar played several eight graders in the game showing they have a stacked group coming up.

Kylie Jourdan (5-10 ’25 G West Union) didn’t have the best night in the stat book and honestly, who does against Ingomar. But she did get my attention with her play. She is very long and can handle the ball. She is a great prospect for next level Coaches to check out.

(B) West Union Eagles 1-0 (1A Myrtle, MS) 64

Ingomar Falcons 1-1 (2A New Albany, MS) 51

Notes: This was the heavyweight battle that I expected it to be. In my opinion, this was the battle for the second best team in NE Mississippi. When the game was over, I firmly believe this is two and three. Both of these Union County teams should be in Jackson this year and will be serious contenders. I know West Union lost a couple really good pieces from a great team last season but I think this team is better than what they had last year. Jon Grey Morrisson (6-6 ’26 F West Union) is just a stud and is only getting better. Carson Conlee (5-10 ’27 G West Union) has made a huge jump from last season and he was already a great player. He plays with a refuse to lose attitude. Jaxon Herod (5-10 ’28 G West Union) is a great addition to the team.

Ingomar had an off night from the free-throw line missing 15 free-throws out of 23 attempts. That will not happen on a regular basis. These guys can play. Jack Denton (6-1 ’25 F Ingomar) was the leader for Ingomar in this game and they still have plenty of options that can step up on any given night.
