(G) Thrasher Lady Rebels 27-5 #63 (1A #3 Booneville, MS) 46

Wheeler Lady Eagles 20-13 #101 (1A #5 Wheeler, MS) 33

Notes: This game was special for me seeing two Prentiss County teams, not named Booneville or New Site, playing for a chance to get to Jackson. It couldn’t have happened in a better place than Northeast too. The atmosphere was great and the placed was packed for the entire event. Thrasher was able to punch the ticket to the Big House. Olivia Tunstall (5-11 ’28 F Thrasher) earned Player of the Game honors. I knew how good Tunstall and Brookelyn Roberts (5-9 ’26 F Thrasher) were going into this game but Valerie Hester (5-7 ’26 G Thrasher) got my attention in this game. She couldn’t be stopped in the second half. Thrasher advances to play undefeated Simmons Monday at 4:30 in Jackson.

Wheeler, don’t let this game get you down. Take this as a learning experience and put it to use over the next few seasons. I said at the first of the year that I could see this team getting a few rounds in the playoffs. You made it further this year than expected and you have a real contender to deal with over the next few years.
