The Hawks made the trip to Jackson last season and missed making a return trip by a few seconds and 2 points. They will look to make 3 trips to Jackson this season. It all starts with 6-1 2018 G Daquan Smith. Smith is pushing his way into the top 5 2018’s in the state and his recruiting should pick up big time this season. The lightning quick guard can score with ease, shooting or finishing strong at the basket. His game is very similar to Monte Ellis. Another quick rising 2017 that will help lead the way is 6-5 G Kendrick Fountain. Fountains size and length help him see the floor and find the open man. He spreads the floor very well and is the general the Hawks need. 6-6 2017 C Juwoyn Lyles will man the post. 6-1 2018 G Ladarius Stinson will get valuable minutes for Holly Springs. The high scoring guard will get some help from some returning 2017’s. 6-4 2017 SF Jamuel Brooks and 6-0 2017 SG Kiryne Jobe will be back to provide on both ends of the court. 6-3 2019 SG Brandon Weatherspoon will be able to provide another scoring punch this season. They will be senior lead this year? The same Coach will be back? OK, they are not going anywhere this year except back to the top. 6-6 2017 F/C Matt Dale comes back to control the paint. I’m sure he will have his pick of school in either football or basketball. Then you have the main play maker and the guy that runs the show, 6-1 2017 G Gus Nave Jr. Nave is one of the most underrated guards in the state but will continue his playing days in college with pads on. What to look for this year:

Wilkinson County fell one game short last season from making the trip up north. This season, keep an eye out for them. The Wildcats will be lead by very underrated 6-2 2017 G/F Travion Jones. Jones plays bigger than a 6-2 F and he plays more skilled than a 6-2 G. His natural passing ability fits this team perfectly. They like to get out and run and he always seems to find the open man running the break after he clears a defensive board. As far as his best skill, it’s moving without the ball. He is excellent at always being open and finding the right spot to get the wide open shot. This team has the leadership this season and the right guards to run the system and hit the open guys. 5-10 2017 G Ja’Quorias Stewart and 5-10 2017 G Juntavious Cage both like to get the ball up in a hurry. 6-2 2017 F Kelandrix Lushaw gets to benefit from the fast paced system that fits him perfectly. This Wildcat team is one of the better passing teams in the state and they fit Coach Anderson perfect. He is expecting a strong performance out of his experienced team this season and so am I.
