State Tournament 6A Boys Quarterfinals

State Tournament Boys Quarterfinal 6A Session

Notes

Southaven

Taze Moore 6-5 G Sr: 19 pts, 8-11 fg, 14 reb, 3 ast. Taze stole the show at the 6A quarters. He had everybody in a buzz trying to find out who he was and what his story was. Mostly because of his lay above the rim. Taze had several crowd pleasing dunks and a miss on an alley that would have been legendary. He also amazed with his blazing speed from one end of the court to the other. He would get a board, a lot of them actually and go the full lenght of the court in about 3 seconds. He looked like a bullet shooting down the court with the ball. What was even more amazing to me was the way he passed the ball. Crisp and fast and on the money. WOW.

Terry

Terry: This is a team of a ton of great young players. Mostly made up of sophomores and juniors and will be back next year.

Columbus

Columbus: Giants. A team full of full grown men that come to Jackson for a block party.

Robert Woodard II 6-6 G/F So: 20 pts, 9-17 fg, 12 reb, 4 ast, 4 blk, 2 st. Man child at work. Ability to handle and pull up on a dime. Defensive beast.

George County

Laraymond Spivery 6-0 G Jr: 13 pts, 3-3 ft, 8 reb, 4 ast, 4 st. He has some of the fasted hands in the state. Very shifty guard that can get to the rack. Crashes the boards.

Starkville

Keith Harris 5-11 G Sr: 21 pts, 7-10 ft, 9 reb, 2 st. Could be the heart and soul of Starkville. He is full of heart. Full speed player on every play, goes all out.

Biloxi

Biloxi: I was impressed on how patient they were on the offensive end. Very physical team that plays very hard the entire game.

Tupelo

Tupelo: Continued to be amazed at the team play of this Tupelo team.

Tyjil Hereford 5-7 PG Jr: 10 pts. Not much of nothing in the stat line but the key to Tupelo winning. His ball handling against Meridian pressure was the difference in the game.

Tre Jenkins 6-2 G Sr: 22 pts, 8-13 fg, 5 3’s, 4 reb, 3 st. Showed great shooting range to go with basketball smarts.

Meridian

Meridian: Team pressure defense was great. Played with defensive speed and purpose.

Jay Malone 5-11 PG Jr: 21 pts, 9-15 fg, 3 3’s, 6 reb, 6 ast, 2 st. True point guard skills. Elusive with plenty of heart.

Tyron Brewer 6-6 G/F So: 14 pts, 5-7 fg, 4-4 ft, 7 reb, 2 st. Big time future for Ty. Reach and leaping ability are out there. Heart.
