Notes: It was fun fun watching Gara Beth Self (5-9 PG Ingomar) and Zanaiyah Daniel (5-8 G Blue Mountain) go at each other on several plays. Both were possibly the best two girls at the whole event. The future is very bright for both of them.

Blue Team Player Introductions
Notes: Jalon Beene (5-11 ’19 G Wheeler) showed why he is one of the best players in the area with his solid performance. Beene came close to dropping a triple-double in his last high school outing. Kevin Hurley (6-4 ’19 F/C Walnut) looked solid and steady for the winning team. Another story line from the game was the play that came from the trio of Ingomar players. Brandon Keys (5-8 ’19 G Ingomar), Trent Bradley (5-8 ’19 G Ingomar) and Kelon Hall (6-2 ’19 G/F Ingomar) left their mark on the game as they departed the high school ranks. Keys contributed as a scoring punch for his team. Bradley wowed the fans with his crafty ball handling and who would’ve ever guessed that Hall would get the Defensive MVP right? Another year has also passed with a group of players that I’ve watched since junior high days. Beene, Ethan Carmichael (5-10 ’19 G Baldwyn), Jacorrius “Tudy” Stanfield (5-7 ’19 G Okolona), Jaymen Allen (6-3 ’19 F/C Thrasher), Cade Franks (5-10 ’19 SG Wheeler), Cameron Wicks (5-11 ’19 G Baldwyn), Quonn Mayes (6-2 ’19 F Biggersville) and Austin Geno (6-0 ’19 G Jumpertown) are all players that I’ve watched grow and develop into all-star players and it was nice seeing them all play their last high school game on the same court.

Notes: Jamia Hollings (6-0 ’19 C West Point) earned MVP honors with her double-double and her strong play at the end of the game. My best part of this game was watching Coach Bill Russell in his final game as a coach. He was coaching this game like it was a state championship game. Coach, you will be missed on the sidelines.

Blue Team Player Introductions
Notes: Quaterrius “Bud” Tolbert (6-3 ’19 G Water Valley) and Antwon Porter (6-6 ’19 G/F Byhalia) helped lead their team to the big win. Tolbert, a multi-sport star, is one of the best athletes in the state. Jaxon Orr (6-6 ’19 F Itawamba) and Tucker Hill (6-8 ’19 G/F Tishomingo County) are two of my favorite players to watch and I will miss seeing them on the courts in northeast Mississippi. It also seemed like yesterday when I was watching a small, skinny kid with Mississippi Spartans break the ankles of a 5 star, 6-9 guard, at MBA. That small player, Cole McGrath (6-1 ’19 SG Booneville), is now leaving the local high school courts to hit the courts on the next level. I’ve always called him “Ice Cold” because he really has ice in his veins. Between AAU and high school, It seems like I’ve watched him play hundreds of times and he never disappoints. Thanks for the memories Cole.
