2019-21 MHSAA Basketball Divisions

A lot of people are already starting to ask about the new regions. Schools moving up, schools moving down. There is a good bit of movement for the next two seasons so I will try my best to break it down for you. The new divisions will be fun to see how they shake out.

1A

1-1A

Last year: Biggersville, Blue Mountain, Jumpertown, Pine Grove, Thrasher, Wheeler

Next year: Biggersville, Blue Mountain, Falkner, Jumpertown, Pine Grove, Thrasher

Notes: Wheeler moves out and Falkner moves in.

2-1A

Last year: Ashland, Byers, Falkner, Hickory Flat, Myrtle, Potts Camp, West Union

Next year: Baldwyn, Ingomar, Smithville, Tremont, TCPS, Wheeler

Notes: Smithville was on their way to being the leader in whatever division they would be in. However, traditional 2A powers Baldwyn and Ingomar join this division as new 1A teams.

3-1A

Next year: Ashland, Coldwater, Byers, Hickory Flat, Myrtle, West Union

4-1A

Last year: Houlka, Okolona, Smithville, Tremont, TCPS

Next year: Coffeeville, Hamilton, Houlka, Okolona, Vardaman

What happened: Houlka and Okolona stayed and everybody else changed.

Notes: Congrats to Coffeeville, Hamilton and Vardaman for being in the north again.
