Pontotoc Warriors

Pontotoc beat Aberdeen 68-41 in Saturday’s Hound Dog Classic.

The win made Warriors fans happy and coaches at Charleston Southern just as tickled. After 2017 senior G/F Ty Jones scored 26 points and had 17 rebounds in three quarters against the Bulldogs, he committed to the Buccaneers.

Jones, playing the five, made an efficient 13 of 16 shots and did not attempt a 3-pointer. Junior forward John Fleming hit 9 of 12 shots for 20 points.

Jones had three dunks and made floaters in the lane. Five of his rebounds were offensive. He also had four assists and a pair of steals.

Tupelo Golden Wave

The Golden Wave are better than last year? It just don’t logistially seem like they should be but I’ve had multiple reports telling me the same thing. Watch out for Coach Norwood and his squad.

Kylan Hamilton 6-2 2017 G 17 pts, 4 3’s: Kylan is really starting to shine with the starting minutes. He has good size for a guard and shot the long ball well,

Tahj Crump 6-4 2018 F 8 pts, 4-5 ft: The newcomer to the rotation looked impressive on the defensive end and ade the best of his offensive opportunities.

Nick Ratliff 6-1 2017 F 16 pts: The garbage man continues to do all the little stuff just right.

Tyjil Hereford 5-7 2017 PG 7 pts: The floor general lead his team. He paced the speed of the game and set the guys up for the position to win.

Okolona Chieftans

Okolona has gained some size and that can be bad for 2A.

Ladarius Spears 6-6 2018 F/C 15 pts: Spears helped control the paint on both ends of the court.

Jacorrius Stanfield 5-9 2019 PG 26 pts: The super fast guard can speed up the show or slow it down and play half court.

Cameron “Cam” Smith 6-6 2018 G/F 9 pts: The big man returns to help facilitate te offense. He scored when needed and helped distribute the ball in the half court game.
