December 3-8 Report
The stats listed are unofficial but are close to what the players accomplished on the court (mostly because I run my mouth too much and don’t pay the closest attention the entire game).

Choctaw County vs Eupora
From Eupora Elementary School
Eupora, MS
(B) Choctaw County Chargers 2-3 (3A Ackerman, MS) 54
MS #182 3A #27
Eupora Eagles 0-4 (2A Eupora, MS) 48
MS #273 2A #39
Notes: The paint combinations of Logan Murphy (6-4 ’19 C Choctaw County), Jared Bellew (6-1 ’20 F/C Choctaw County) and Israel Whitmore (6-2 ’20 F/C Choctaw County) controlled the boards to help push Choctaw County to the win. Tray Jobe (5-9 ’20 PG Choctaw County) was a shot in the arm for the Chargers as he managed the point duties. Camron Culpepper (6-1 ’19 G/F Eupora) really impressed me with his play. He knocked down a double-double and was strong on both ends of the court.

Charleston vs Coffeeville
From Coffeeville HS
Coffeeville, MS
(B) Charleston Tigers 4-3 (3A Charleston, MS) 83
MS #178 3A #26
Coffeeville Pirates 1-4 (1A Coffeeville, MS) 65
MS #244 1A #29
Notes: It took a second half push for Charleston to get going but they finally hit the gas and Coffeeville ran out of gas. Bryan Steen (6-6 ’20 F/C Charleston) has gotten much better. He was playing like an Inspector Gadget or Stretch Armstrong on the court. His arms seemed to be in every corner of the playing surface. Next level Coaches need to get on him right away. He will be a prized target next year. Quindario “Skeetie” Curry (6-0 ’19 PG Charleston) is a do-it-all point that makes his teammates better. DeAnte Prince (6-2 ’19 G/F Charleston) is a high level athlete that is committed to Ole Miss football. He filled the stat categories on the hardwood also. Tycarious Collins (6-5 ’20 C Charleston) is a big piece inside for the Tigers but he was forced to ride the pine with early foul trouble. I was actually more impressed with the Coffeeville players upside. Jadarrius “JD” Kincaide (6-3 ’20 SG Coffeeville) has huge potential. He is a deadly shooter with half court, change that, 3/4 court range. He displayed that with a 3/4 court shot near the end of one of the quarters. He nailed it like a normal jumper with ease. Jamario Edwards (5-9 ’20 G Coffeeville) plays with confidence and has that it factor to him. He’s one to keep an eye on. KeAntronie Edwards (5-11 ’22 SG Coffeville) is a strong bodied shooter with high potential also. He has ice in his veins for such a young player. LaTayvien Torrance (5-7 ’21 PG Coffeeville) is a very composed guard that plays very efficient. Coffeeville and Charleston both have chances of making noise and being headaches in their classes.

MS #67 4A #16
Presbyterian Christian Bobcats 5-5 (AAAA Hattiesburg, MS) 33
MS #110 AAAA #2
Notes: Pontotoc connected on 11-14 free-throws to help get the win. Caleb Hobson (6-0 ’20 G Pontotoc) is a late addition to the team due to football and he sure is making his mark. He came off the bench and was a bucket. He scored on multiple levels and finished very well around the basket. Cade Armstrong (6-2 ’21 F Pontotoc) is another great addition from football. He contributed a lot of hustle plays. Cannon Garner (6-3 ’21 G/F Presbyterian Christian) is a shooter with good range. Jeremiah Montgomery (6-7 ’20 F/C Presbyterian Christian) transferred from Stone and is very long, athletic and lanky.

From Heritage Academy
Columbus, MS
(B) Jackson Prep Patriots 3-1 (AAAA Jackson, MS) 37
MS #71 AAAA #1
Starkville Academy Volunteers 1-2 (AAA Starkville, MS) 20
Notes: Jackson Prep is a very nice looking team. And I say TEAM. They passed and moved the ball with so much ease and perfection. Their patience was top notch and they are extremely fundamentally sound. They are very solid and have a deep bench. They will be a team that makes some noise in the overall. Thomas Thornton (6-2 ’19 F Jackson Prep) looked very solid in the win. A key player to keep an eye on down the road for Prep is Cam Brent (5-6 ’22 PG Jackson Prep). Cam will be a future stud.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots 1-4 (AAAA Madison, MS) 57
MS #144 AAAA #6
Notes: A very good game ended with Tish County winning in OT. Tayvius Duckett (6-0 ’19 F Tishomingo County) nearly notched a 20/20 game to help get the win. Tucker Hill (6-7 ’19 G/F Tishomingo County) was silent but drew so much defensive attention from MRA. Braxton Pritchard (6-0 ’19 PG Tishomingo County) can score at will and he needs to be seen by next level Coaches. Connor Bonds (6-2 ’20 G/F Tishomingo County) is a lock down defender for the Braves. DH Dew (’20 G MRA) had a very solid game in the losing effort. He is improving rapidly and will be one to watch for next year. Josh Hubbard (’23 G MRA) looked like a polished junior on the court. He will be a fun one to watch the next few years.

Notes: Moak Griffin (6-1 ’19 G Heritage Academy) was all over the place and earned Player of the Game honors. Carter Putt (5-11 ’20 G Heritage Academy) and Reid Huskison (5-9 ’20 G Heritage Academy) are both solid guards. Jared Long (6-4 ’20 G/F Heritage Academy) didn’t have his best game but he is a must see for next level Coaches. Eli Acker (6-6 ’20 F/C Heritage Academy) looked like a monster on the offensive end and he still looked like a football player on the defensive. He was a little foul happy and that reduced his minutes big time. He will be a beast when he gets back into basketball mode. Wenton Walker (6-4 ’20 G/F Jackson Academy) is a force for JA. He can shoot and has good size. Jonathan Lucas (6-5 ’21 F Jackson Academy) battled hard down low against Acker. He will be a great prospect to keep an eye on.
