Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game
Friday March 15, 2019
Alabama State University
Dunn Oliver Acadome
Montgomery, AL
(B) Alabama All-Stars 107
Mississippi All-Stars 90
Notes: The Mississippi team did a good job of trying to stay in the game with the much more talented Alabama super stars. The Bama team, boasting a minimum of 6 division 1 players, could easily be one of the most talented teams to ever play in this game. Demond Robinson (6-8 ’19 C Lee-Montgomery) was a beast in the paint and he really affected the outcome of the game. Cameron Tucker (6-2 ’19 G Wenonah) stepped up big in the second half to help the Alabama squad get the big lead. Desmond Williams (6-1 ’19 G Brewbaker Tech) really caught my eye with his explosive speed bursts. He is super quick. Of course, Trendon Watford (6-8 ’19 F Mountain Brook) showed up and did what Trendon does. He smoothly affected the game in all areas.
Good news to the Crimson Tide fans, Jaylen Forbes (6-4 ’19 SG Florence) looked right at home playing over there. He showed out trying to keep the Mississippi squad in the game. It was nice seeing Danny “DJ” Washington (6-0 ’19 PG Greenville) hold his own with the talented Alabama guards. Big John “Bill” Rawls (6-8 ’19 C East Marion) held his own with the big Alabama post players. Jakorie Smith (6-6 ’19 F Raymond) and Earl Smith (6-4 ’19 G Lanier) both looked solid in the loss.

Notes: Bryantavious “Bryan” Steen (6-6 ’20 F/C Charleston), you were so boring to watch because you did everything by the book in this game. Text book block outs and defensive positioning. Making the best of the easy baskets and put back offensive boards. You also get Magnolia Hoops Player of the Game because you were the difference maker. You changed the game and had a huge impact in the win. A close second in the running for POG was Bentavious “Ben” Galmore (5-7 ’20 PG Coahoma County). He was most likely the smallest guy on the court and he still came down with seven boards. He showed that he can score when he needs from outside or he can get to the rack. He had one of the best plays of the game when he drove in the paint and hit Steen with a bullet no-look pass for an easy basket. Randarius Hughes (6-6 ’20 G Heidelberg) showed his explosiveness on both ends. He blocked two shots on one possession then gathered the loose ball as he went to the other end of the court with a huge slam. He made several ooh and aah plays the entire game showing why he is one of the most athletic big guards in the state.

Notes: Edzeric “Zeke” Cook (6-4 ’20 F/C Starkville) continued to look and play just like he did in the 6A title run. He has a knack for being in the right spot every time. Kylan Blackmon (6-3 ’20 G Oxford) provided an offensive spark with some deep three’s. Jabari Bowman (6-6 ’20 F/C Warren Central) was able to hold his own in the paint and looked good. Cameron “Mook” Matthews (6-6 ’20 F Olive Branch) displayed his guard skills as he ran the team on several breaks and tallied 6 assists. Trenton Coleman (6-6 ’20 G/F Ridgeland) was a pleasant surprise watch for me. He really impressed me with his play. Alijah Martin (6-2 ’20 G North Pike) introduced himself to the rest of the state showing why he is one of the top level players that most have never heard of. Damarion Arrington (6-4 ’20 G/F Wingfield) displayed a very solid game in the loss. Nick Walker (6-5 ’20 F Hattiesburg) was very productive in what seemed to be limited minutes. Any player in the country should want to play with Caleb McGill (6-6 ’20 F Petal). He makes the games so fun and gives full effort every single time he’s on the court. Jaquevias Tarvin (6-3 ’20 G Brandon) was another one that really stood out to me as he was trying to keep his team in the game during the fourth quarter.
