Hatley at Jumpertown Recap 11-2-21

Tuesday November 2, 2021

From Jumpertown HS

Booneville, MS

(G) Jumpertown Lady Cardinals 1-1 (1A Booneville, MS) 58

Hatley Lady Tigers 0-1 (3A Amory, MS) 46

Notes: Jumpertown jumped out to a double-digit lead and just cruised hovering around around that deficit the rest of the game. Elyse Goodwin (’23 F Jumpertown 11 pts 12 reb 3 ast 2 st) came off the bench to earn Player of the Game honors. The long and tall junior played very well down low and she also did very well handling the ball. She even seemed to turn into the go-to player as the game progressed. Cheyanna Johnson (’23 PG Jumpertown 16 pts 2 3’s 1 reb 4 ast 1 st) was the primary ball handler and she proved to be a very good scorer or play maker. She showed that she could get her shot whenever she needed to. Jumpertown has plenty of size and can shoot the ball really well. I look for them to have a very solid season this year. Kenlee Wilkinson (5-6 ’23 G/F Hatley 17 pts 2 reb 2 st 1 charge taken) had a solid performance in the losing effort for Hatley.

(B) Jumpertown Cardinals 1-1 (1A Booneville, MS) 49

Hatley Tigers 0-1 (3A Amory, MS) 44

Notes: Jumpertown has a very smooth one-two punch with Kye Elliott (6-2 ’22 G Jumpertown 8 pts 3-3 ft 1 3’s 10 reb 5 ast 2 st) and Riley Geno (6-1 ’22 G Jumpertown 25 pts 1 3’s 10 reb 2 ast 3 st). Both of these guys have a very similar style and it can be called very simply as smooth. They can handle the ball very well, they can break you down with the dribble-drive or can pull the jumpers on you. They were very patient against the tough zone Hatley was playing. Their jumpers looked silky smooth. They both rebounded well with both getting in the double digits. Elliott laid back and played more of a play maker role adding 5 assist. Geno took advantage of a couple break aways to show he can play above the rim. Hatley had a solid high post, low post combo with Jaxon Knight (’23 G/F Hatley 10 pts 11 reb 4 ast 1 st) and Cayson Williams (’24 F Hatley 10 pts 9 reb 1 ast 1 blk 1 st). Knight started out playing more of a guard role but eventually showed his value around the high post. He did a great job of finding the open guys either on the low post of from beyond the arc. Williams has a big, strong body to go with a good set of hands on the low block.
