(G) Tupelo Lady Wave 1-0 (6A Tupelo, MS) 83
Holly Springs Lady Hawks 0-3 (3A Holly Springs, MS) 13
Notes: Tupelo is pretty good. They have size, skill, depth and this is only the beginning for the Lady Wave Dynasty. Ganae McAllister (5-10 ’23 F/C Tupelo 11 pts 9 reb 5 st) earned Player of the Game honors with a strong game down low. She is very athletic and plays with a lot of energy. Nadia Norfleet (5-4 ’25 G Tupelo 17 pts 1 3’s 2 reb 2 ast 3 st) came off the bench and raced her way to 17 points. Norfleet, Shakinah Jackson (5-4 ’22 G Tupelo 10 pts 2 3’s 1 reb 2 ast 2 st) and Audria Houston (5-6 ’23 G Tupelo 9 pts 3 reb 3 ast 2 st) are very fast guards. Lamarah Cleaves (5-11 ’24 F/C Tupelo 8 pts 3 reb 1 blk 4 st), Maniya Kirksey (5-7 ’24 G/F Tupelo 6 pts 1 3’s 2 reb 1 blk), Peyton Hearvy (5-9 ’23 F Tupelo 5 pts 8 reb 1 ast 1 st 1 charge taken) and Jereminsha McGaughy (5-10 ’23 F Tupelo 4 pts 4 reb 2 ast 1 blk 4 st) provide plenty of size and length. The most intriguing prospect for Coach Justice has to be freshman Jade Rucker (6-1 ’25 G/F Tupelo 7 pts 3 reb 2 ast 1 blk 3 st). Rucker has great size, length and athleticism. She didn’t shoot the ball much during the game but she was knocking the long balls down with ease during warm ups. She has a tremendously bright future ahead for her.
I can guarantee that Dajah Turner (5-3 ’22 PG Holly Springs 10 pts 6 reb 1 st) slept good Friday night after this game. She did everything she possibly could for the Lady Hawks. She is very, very fast with some smooth handles.

(B) Tupelo Golden Wave 1-0 (6A Tupelo, MS) 101
Holly Springs Hawks 0-2 (3A Holly Springs, MS) 39
Notes: The Golden Wave are a highlight reel this season. They play so fast and with so much energy. I’m going to have to steal a line from the great EV the Geeker and say Dunk you very much. He described Clinton like that many times last year and Coach Green has brought that same energy and intensity to the All-American city. It was my first time seeing London Fields (6-3 ’23 G/F Tupelo 18 pts 1 3’s 7 reb 6 ast 1 blk 2 st) in person and he can flat out play. He’s a freak athlete that can shoot. He almost had the dunk of the game with a monster poster he tried early on. The best dunk had to have been an off the backboard alley from Braxton Bishop (5-10 ’22 PG Tupelo 15 pts 1 3’s 2-2 ft 1 reb 4 ast 1 st) to Gavin Shannon (6-6 ’23 G Tupelo 14 pts 6 reb 2 ast 1 blk). Bishop almost had a Sportcenter top play when he attempted a 3/4 court buzzer beater backwards. Yeah, he just slung it over his head backwards and almost nailed it. Hayes Halbert (6-2 ’22 G/F Tupelo 10 pts 2 3’s 4 reb 5 ast 4 blk) provided an offensive spark off the bench with a couple NBA range three’s. He even got himself a slam in the final quarter. Dayveun Anderson (5-9 ’23 G Tupelo 5 pts 1 3’s 5 reb 1 ast 2 blk 2 st) was pretty impressive to see too. He’s another bundle of energy. David Harbour (6-7 ’22 F/C Tupelo 2 pts 3 reb 1 ast 1 blk) didn’t put up a great stat line but he still needs to be mentioned for the defensive presence he brought off the bench. He created havoc for the Holly Springs offensive guys.
Dedrick Faulkner (5-10 ’22 PG Holly Springs 13 pts 10 reb 2 ast 1 st) looked really good in the loss for the Hawks. He is a crafty guard that was able to get some tough jumpers off.
