From Lafayette HS
Oxford, MS
(G) Lafayette Lady Commodores (5A Oxford, MS) 59
Water Valley Lady Blue Devils (3A Water Valley, MS) 15
Notes: Lafayette was just too strong and deep for Water Valley to keep up with in this one. Harmony Jackson (5-8 ’24 F Lafayette 7 pts 3 reb 3 ast 1 st) and Jaden Herod (5-7 ’24 G Lafayette 4 pts 3 reb 4 ast 3 st) both posted a solid game in the victory for Lafayette.

Notes: This is a Lafayette team with 7 or 8 seniors on it and most of them have gotten some good court time over the last few years. One of the seniors that got my attention was Trikyus Woodall (6-1 ’22 G Lafayette 6 pts 2 reb 2 ast 5 st). His defense was on a high level in this game. The story wasn’t the seniors though. It ended up being the finding of a gem. The Player of the Game was Adam Tyson (6-5 ’26 G Lafayette 13 pts 1 3’s 6-7 ft 6 reb 2 blk 1 st). Tyson is a high major prospect in the making. He brings the total package to the court. He has handles and he tries to play within his game. He showed range by knocking down a long ball and was very good from the charity stripe. He rebounded and defended at a solid level. He even attempted a couple put-back slams. The eighth grader is one of the better younger prospects I’ve seen in a long time. It’s going to be fun to keep up with his growth and progression the next several years.
Coach Yancy has some decent speed and size with his guys. I’m sure he will grown them together as the season moves on and he will have them playing in top form. He also has an eighth grader playing up. Aaden Reed (5-7 ’26 G Water Valley 3 pts 1 3’s 1 ast 1 st) started the game and is getting some quality minutes to help him develop as a smooth guard. He is going to be another one to keep an eye on in the future.
