Notes: Wow what an impressive defensive performance by Baldwyn. Coach Pippen had her girls playing high speed all over the court to slow down a very solid Hickory Flat team. Sommer Tyes (5-9 ’23 F/C Baldwyn 11 pts 18 reb 2 ast 3 st) posted a double-double with a dominant 18 rebound performance.

Abby Tatum (5-6 ’23 SG Hickory Flat 14 pts 3-4 ft 3 3’s 5 reb 5 ast 1 st) had a solid game for the Lady Rebels. She knocked down several three’s and played very solid at the guard spot.

Notes: Baldwyn began the season with a win over the visiting Rebels. Preston Ward (6-4 ’22 F Baldwyn 20 pts 6 reb 1 st 2 charges taken) looked impressive around the paint to earn Player of the Game honors. This Baldwyn team passes the eye test. They look big and athletic. Coach McKay also has the ability to go ten deep with the bench. The play a tough and physical defense.

Hickory Flat was without their best player, Drew Wilson (6-0 ’22 G Hickory Flat). He started the game and started out after halftime but wasn’t able to play due to injury. He was a huge missing piece for the Rebels. Hickory Flat contributed as a team hitting 5 3’s and was 12-15 from the free-throw line.
