Baldwyn at Biggersville Recap 12-16-21

Thursday December 16, 2021

From Biggersville HS

Corinth, MS

(G) Biggersville Lady Lions (1A Corinth, MS) 59

Baldwyn Lady Bearcats (2A Baldwyn, MS) 46

Notes: Asia Stafford (6-1 ’23 F/C Biggersville 29 pts 17 reb 1 ast 2 blk 1 st) earned Player of the Game honors with a strong offensive rebounding performance. I had her with 8 offensive rebounds and put back combos. She also drew a foul on four of those made baskets. It was clear that Coach Little had a plan of winning this game on the back of Stafford. The pounded the post the entire game. Hannah Seago (5-9 ’23 PG Biggersville 18 pts 3 3’s 3-4 ft 4 reb 4 ast 1 blk 2 st 1 charge taken) also contributed several head shaking plays in the contest.

This Baldwyn team is playing some great basketball right now. Sommer Tyes (5-9 ’23 F/C Baldwyn 23 pts 3-4 ft 5 reb 3 st) wasn’t able to dominate the post like she normally does so she stepped out and showed her range and versatility. She knocked down the ten and twelve foot jumpers with ease on her way to 23 points.

Baldwyn Bearcats (2A Baldwyn, MS) 50

Notes: When Biggersville played Pine Grove I noticed a weakness. Coach Little must’ve saw the same thing I did because he quickly brought the solution up. I saw a lack of automatic shooters. What a coming out party it was for Brooks Seago (6-0 ’26 G Biggersville 11 pts 3 3’s (in 4th qtr) 3 ast 2 st 2 charges taken). The eighth grader not only shot the ball well but he just brought the all around play. He was getting in the lane trying to get the drive and dish. He was very active on the defensive end getting steals and taking charges. Biggersville was already a legit ten deep with players, now you can make that eleven. Zae Davis (5-10 ’22 PG Biggersville 28 pts 2 3’s 6-7 ft 3 ast 1 st) earned Player of the Game honors with his automatic mid-range game. You let him get in the 16-18 feet range and he knocks the jumper down at an extremely high percentage. That pull-up and step-back are killer.

Baldwyn is a good team with size and depth. They will also bring the stingy defense and aggravate you the entire game.
