Special thanks go out to Billy Roberts, Austin Roberts and Garret King for videoing, keeping stats and contributing to this report. The famous Turkey Tournament is one of the first tournaments I can remember going to as a kid. The Turkey Tournament used to be big time during the 80’s and 90’s. You would have to get to the gym at 3 or 4 just to get in back in the day. The best of the best would battle for the trophy in an old school tournament format.

Notes

East Union Urchins

Ty McDonald 6-3 2017 SG 28 pts, 8-10 fg: He wasn’t as fluid as normal due to a nagging back injury but he was still good enough for 28.

Thrasher Rebels

Jaymen Allen 6-3 2019 F/C 6 pts: The Thrasher big man has been dealing with an injury of his own. He was slowed by an ankle injury. He did get some outside shots in and showed some range.

Wheeler Eagles

The was a very good test for Wheeler. This game will get the Eagles ready for the Ashlands and the Biggersvilles.

Cole Swinney 5-9 2018 G 23 pts, 12-14 ft, 3 ast, 2 st: The fearless guard looks like he is playing on the playground when he’s on the court. He has fun and goes all out. His passes are on point and he provides scrappy defense. 12-14 free throws helps in close games like this.

Jalon Beene 5-9 2019 G/F 15 pts, 10 reb, 2 st, 7-7 ft: The young guard has a shooting stroke that looks like he is from the old Sam Richey Eagles. He can get up and play around the rim for a shorter G/F.

Dylan Herring 5-10 2017 G 5 pts, 3 st: The MagnoliaHoops Player of the Game was clutch when clutch counts. He hit the free throws to help seal the win. He also had timely steals down the stretch. He is the main floor general and he has never met a fast break he didn’t like.

Puckett Wolves

Coach Crain has some stud athletes to run with. The like to get u the court and are not scared to get above the rim when they can. This was a very fun team to watch running with Wheeler.

Jacob Anderson 6-3 2017 G/F 14 pts: I think Coach Crain has a messed up tape measure. 6-3 seems a little, or lot, lower than it should be. He is very hard to keep from scoring when he gets in the lane.

Joe Anderson 6-3 2017 G/F 15 pts, 5-7 ft: Jacob and Joe are twins so the same goes for Joe also. The duel sports stars are freak athletes. Joe did get a SportCenter top 10 style body where he cut his wrist on the rim. It’s a must see in the video.
