#67, #4 Wheeler (30-2) (Wheeler) 78
#101, #7 Coffeeville (22-11) (Coffeeville) 66
I figured this game would come down to the wire and it didn’t disappoint at all. Two evenly matched teams fighting to keep going. Coffeeville got two outstanding performances from Zavion “Zay” Jones (6-2 ’18 PG Coffeeville 25 pts 2 3’s 7-8 ft 17 reb, 11 in 2nd half, 3 ast 3 st) and Stantavious “Stan” Spearman (6-0 ’18 SG Coffeeville 26 pts, 16 in 2nd half, 5 3’s 5 reb). Its wasn’t enough to overcome the showing from Jalon Beene (5-11 ’19 G/F Wheeler 22 pts 11 reb 2 ast) and Alex Wilson (6-0 ’18 SG Wheeler 25 pts 7-13 fg 6 3’s 5 reb). Beene was the Player of the Game.

#12, #1 Okolona (29-2) (Okolona) 80
#55, #3 East Marion (23-4) (Columbia) 54
In what I deemed to be the 1A State Championship Game, Okolona showed just how dominant they can be. The senior trio of Cameron “Cam” Smith (6-5 ’18 G/F Okolona 19 pts 10 reb 7 ast), Jaylon “J-Mo” Bailey (6-0 ’18 G Okolona 28 pts, 20 in 2nd half, 10 reb 2 ast 2 st) and Ladarrius “Moo Moo’ Spears (6-6 ’18 F/C Okolona 10 pts 8 reb 3 blk 2 st) led Okolona to the victory. Bailey was Player of the Game while Spears could also be noted for holding East Marion stud junior John Rawls (6-8 ’19 F/C East Marion 10 reb 3 ast 4 blk) to 2 points while not allowing him to hit a field goal. Smith messed around and nearly got a triple-double in his effort. Freshmen duo of Vashon Sims (6-3 ’21 G/F East Marion 13 pts 3 reb) and Caleb Rawls (6-5 ’21 F East Marion 11 pts 9 reb) had solid performances in their first Big House visit of many more to come. They were the buzz around the stadium. East Marion will be the favorite in 1A next year.
