January 7-12 Report
The stats listed are unofficial but are close to what the players accomplished on the court (mostly because I run my mouth too much and don’t pay the closest attention the entire game).

Notes: This was a very fun and intense game. Kobe Williams (6-2 ’20 G Baldwyn) played big putting up a 21-10 performance. Riley Hoard (6-4 ’20 F/C Baldwyn) connected on a monster put-back slam for the play of the game. Ethan Carmichael (5-10 ’19 G Baldwyn) had a game high 7 dimes in the winning effort. Gabe Richardson (5-10 ’20 G Baldwyn) and Williams are perfect for creating shots or getting into the lane and making plays happen. Jaden Ward (5-10 ’20 G Baldwyn) provides high energy and defensive effort. As for New Site, Walker Moreland (5-11 ’20 SG New Site) had one of the worst shooting performances I’ve ever seen him have. Yeah he still dropped 28 with 5 three’s and was perfect at the free-throw line on 9 attempts. You can not stop him from scoring, just try and slow him down. Carson Fitzsimmons (5-11 ’20 G/F New Site) and Dalton Pounds (6-4 ’21 F/C New Site) both had solid efforts. Chandler Johnson (6-2 ’20 G New Site) brought good energy off the bench for the Royals.

Notes: Booneville looked like they had this game in complete control the entire game but Wheeler was still right there behind them the whole way. Booneville continued their winning ways with a big win over Baldwyn in the Prentiss County Championship. It’s always hard to pick a player of the game when Booneville wins because they are so level with team play. Trey McKinney (’21 G Booneville) stepped up with his rebounding from the guard spot in the fourth quarter. Dallas Gamble (6-1 ’19 F Booneville) made his presence known and was a defensive headache for Wheeler. Cole McGrath (6-1 ’19 G Booneville) played big before going down with an injury late in the game. Mac Shinault (6-4 ’22 C Booneville) nearly pulled of a double-double with his strong play. With Jalon Beene (5-11 ’19 G Wheeler) having a slow night, and slow I mean only dropping 21, several other Eagles stepped up. Cade Franks (5-10 ’19 SG Wheeler) pitched in 20. Jacob James (6-0 ’20 PG Wheeler) played all-out as always and Jacob Coats (5-9 ’19 G Wheeler) caught my eye with his strong effort.

Notes: Demarcus Gray (6-6 ’20 F/C Leake Central) did his job on both ends of the court to help create the separation in the score. He was a force in the paint as a defender and made the best of his scoring opportunities when he got the ball on the offensive end.

Notes: Philadelphia has a tough team. Jordan Hill (’20 G/F Philadelphia) and Shemar Rush (’19 G/F Philadelphia) are two long wings. Zabian Hunter (’19 C Philadelphia) is a solid post. Jacobi York (’19 G Philadelphia) is a strong body lefty shooter. Nicholas Crockett (6-1 ’20 G/F Philadelphia) brings energy off the bench. Querrion Gadson (5-11 ’19 G McAdams) was a pleasant find for McAdams. He scores easy around contact and also plays above the rim. He is a good passer too.
